Book Discussion

This group meets monthly to discuss a chosen book. Titles alternate between fiction and non-fiction. The group is made up of residents of both Nottingham and Northwood and the meetings alternate between the two town libraries as well.  See Book Discussion Titles page for a list of the books we have read since the group started in 1990.

TEEN PROGRAMS

There are movie nights and other fun activites planned for teens by our Teen Advisory Group.  If you are a teen and would like to join the group or participate on one of the activites , call or e-mail the library.

Story Hours for Children (September – June)

NEW WINTER WEEKEND STORY TIME

A monthly story time for children ages 3-5  who cannot attend the weekday programs.  Space is limited so please call or stop by the library to reister, 679-8484.  Our next meeting is on Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 PM.

2012 -2013

All story hours except for the Thurssday program, start at 10:00 am.

Please call the library at 679-8484 to register.   Pre-registration is required.

Early Years Story Hour (age birth - 3 years)

This group offers an opportunity for young children and their caregivers to gather for rhymes, songs and puppets. Short books intended for this age are generally highlighted. Each session concludes with time for parents to socialize and for children to engage in free play and toy exploration.  This program will meet on  Thursdays at 9:00 am

Story hour (ages three – six years)

Our Wednesday  story time is geared for children 3 and 4 who will attend independently. The Thursday story times are  for the longer attention span of the preschool (4 - 6 year old ) child. These hour long programs include stories, finger plays, songs and puppets. Each session concludes with a craft project.  Parents help out with the craft program!

2012-2013 Story hour Schedule – (subject to change)

If there is a school cancellation at Nottingham School due to weather, then story hour is cancelled as well.  Story hour will be at the regular time on days of delayed openings.

Session I -  September 18 – October 25

Session II – November 13 – December 13

Session III – January 8 – Febraury 14

Session IV – March 5 – April 11

Session V – April 30 – June 6

Summer Reading Program

Every summer, the library offers fun incentives to keep children reading all summer long.  There are workshops of stories, games and crafts are available for children ages 5 and up.  See the Summer Reading Program page for more details.
