About:
Blaisdell Memorial Library’s summer reading logs are a chance for kids to keep track of their adventures at home and at the library, whether that be checking out books, attending events, or having fun! At the end of summer, children can bring in their reading logs to earn raffle tickets and other fun prizes.
Summer reading logs will be available for pick up at the library all summer long and come with one sheet and ten stickers.
How to Use:

The front of the reading logs are for tracking the time a child spends reading (alone or with help), while the back contains several adventure challenges as well as space for event stamps. If you bring your log into the library when attending programs such as Story Hour, Lunch Bunch, and cupcake decorating, you can collect a stamp in the box!
End of Summer:
At the end of summer reading, children can bring their reading logs into the library any time between August 2nd (our SRP finale) and August 10th to trade for their prizes!
Children will earn a raffle ticket just by showing their reading logs, whether or not they were able to complete them, and earn more if you reach reading and adventure milestones! There will be four different raffles to choose from, meaning children can enter multiple or try their luck by putting all their tickets in for one.
Additional special prizes will be available for children who are able to completely fill their reading log and for collecting stamps from attending events, so we encourage all kids to do their best with what they like!
FAQ:
Are the reading logs restricted to specific ages?
Not at all! While the logs are best suited to younger children, any child or teen who is interested in using one is welcome to do so.
Is there a digital reading log option available?
Unfortunately, we do not have any online options for tracking reading this year.
What kind of books count for the reading logs?
Any! Picture books, early learners, chapter books and even graphic novels are all different forms of reading. No matter what reading level your child is on or where their interest lies, all of it counts!
Do I need to turn in my reading log at a specific time?
While you can visit at any time during the day, please visit between August 2nd and August 10th to earn all possible rewards. The raffles will end on the 10th and the library will be closed for the week of August 13th.
Can my child also participate in the library passport program?
Yes! While the passport is aimed at older children and the reading logs at younger, you may participate in both at the same time. However, you must choose one or the other to use for raffle tickets at the end of summer. Children are also welcome to take a library passport to play with or write in even if they aren’t looking to participate in the program.
